In the Zoom Where It Happens

Cast and crew members from Broadway's  “Hamilton” taught Duchesne students a musical medley during an interactive virtual workshop.

On February 2, students in Duchesne's Musical Theater class participated in a virtual Broadway workshop hosted by cast and crew members from the award-winning musical “Hamilton.” During the workshop, the students learned to sing a medley of songs from the smash-hit production. Marc delaCruz, an ensemble member and understudy for the characters Hamilton, Laurens/Philip, and King George, also spoke with the students about what it takes to be a performer on Broadway.

In the workshop, Rose Barry ’22 had the opportunity to work with Ian Weinberger, the music director of “Hamilton.” Rose was selected as one of four singers from more than 600 students who participated in the workshop. She sang part of “The Schuyler Sisters” and received feedback from Mr. Weinberger. Each of the Duchesne students in the class will now record themselves singing the medley they learned to create a virtual choir video.
