Seniors Win Technology Awards

The students have been instrumental in Duchesne's award-winning robotics team and student-run campus help desk.

The National Center for Women & Information Technology has awarded Duchesne seniors Wendy Rossi and Sofia Varner in recognition of their outstanding achievements in technology. Both girls won an Award for Aspirations in Computing which honors high school students for their computing-related achievements and encourages them to pursue their passions. Award recipients are selected based on their aptitude and aspirations in technology and computing, as demonstrated by their computing experience, computing-related activities, leadership experience, tenacity in the face of barriers to access, and their plans for post-secondary education.

Sofia and Wendy received the awards at a special ceremony held at the University of Houston - Downtown on February 29. Wendy also won a cash scholarship as part of the Energy Day Aspirations in Computing Award.
