Caitlyn MCCONNELL ‘22 is a freshman at New York University Tisch School of the Arts in New York City studying Dramatic Writing—screenwriting, playwriting, and TV writing. She is directing and independently producing the full-length play she wrote. “Ruben’s Cube” is a dark comedy that follows an obsessive architect falling into obscurity as he begins controlling the lives of the residents of his houses.
Pre-production began in October 2022 as Caitlyn partnered with colleagues from Tisch Dramatic Writing and Film and Television as producers. The play stars nine actors from Tisch Drama and other schools at NYU. Caitlyn’s directorial debut, “Ruben’s Cube,” premieres at Tisch’s Goldberg Theatre on February 3rd, 2023.
Caitlyn joined Duchesne in eighth grade in 2017 and graduated with honors in 2022. While at Duchesne, Caitlyn found her love for dramatic writing by writing her first feature screenplay as a sophomore. She wrote her second feature screenplay as a junior and her first television pilot as a senior.
Caitlyn took the initiative to share her love of the arts at Duchesne—starting the DA Poets’ Society in 2019 and the Classic Film Club in 2020. Her senior year, she was the Editor-in-Chief of The Charger newsletter. She played for the Varsity Golf team for three years and led the team as Captain her senior year. She was accepted to the prestigious Rita Goldberg
Department of Dramatic Writing at NYU Tisch School of the Arts as an early decision candidate.
Caitlyn is grateful that Duchesne brought her to Tisch, where she has met so many creative friends and mentors who have helped her grow artistically. Duchesne is where she found her initiative, leadership, and relentless ambition that have allowed her to excel at NYU.
