From the Head of School: No Students on Campus Friday, March 13

Dear Duchesne Community,

As the City of Houston continues to navigate rapidly changing developments related to the spread of COVID-19, Duchesne will take the opportunity tomorrow, Friday, March 13 to dismiss classes on campus in order to test the implementation of remote learning with the students. This trial is in preparation for a longer closure after spring break if determined.

Students should not come to campus tomorrow, but will be required to participate in remote learning. Details about the plan can be viewed here. This document is organized by grade level. Please review the document to see the expectations for your daughter’s grade level. Specific questions about your student’s schedule tomorrow should be directed via email to the student’s teacher.

At this time, spring break will remain as scheduled, but school activities during the break, including robotics and French Symposium, will be canceled.

The Crisis Management Team will continue to monitor the pandemic, and I will notify the community to further changes to school schedule or events if changes are required for after spring break. I recognize that these are difficult times for students and families, and I thank you for your understanding and flexibility as our community, both locally and globally, grapples with the ramifications of each decision required due to this public health crisis.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Patricia Swenson
Head of School
