This year’s theme, “She Leaves a Little Sparkle Wherever She Goes,” celebrates the Duchesne spirit in all our girls. Enjoy a holiday-themed fashion show featuring Tootsies and our own Duchesne students, capped off with touching tributes from the senior girls to their mothers. Yes, fathers are invited too! Come out and support our non-senior models too! Put a grade-level table together and enjoy a wonderful Sunday afternoon together.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Mother-Daughter Luncheon?

Each fall, Duchesne hosts the Mother-Daughter Style Show and Luncheon to honor the graduating class of seniors. Held in a large hotel ballroom, the entire school community is invited to share in this lovely event, which includes a runway fashion show featuring Duchesne students as models.

Who models in the style show?

Each girl in the senior class takes a turn walking down the runway, along with select students from Pre-K3 - 11th grade. These students are chosen at random through a lottery. In Lower School, 1 model from each home room is selected. In Middle and Upper School,  3 models are selected for each grade level.

What is the senior tribute?

In addition to modeling, each senior girl walks down the runway after the style show while a tribute that she wrote to her mother is read aloud. It is a heartwarming moment culminating with a mother and daughter hug at the end of the runway.

Who can attend the luncheon?

All members of the Duchesne community are invited to attend including students, moms, dads, siblings, friends, and family. The senior class receives priority in making table reservations. Then invitations are mailed to the entire school in early October.

Space is limited, and the event sold out in 2018, so it is best to get your reservation in as soon as possible. RSVPs for the 2019 event are due Monday, November 11.

How do table reservations work?

Each table at the event can accommodate up to 12 guests. If you don't have a group of 12 in your reservation, we are happy to seat you with other guests. Please specify what grade you would like to sit with and we will add other guests to your table with that consideration.

What are the available meal selections?

All guests will be served an appetizer plate to enjoy during the style show. A regular adult meal will be offered and an optional vegetarian meal is available. A children’s meal is also offered which includes a full serving of chicken tenders, mac and cheese, and a fruit cup. Dessert is also included for every guest.

What is the attire for guests?

Anything appropriate for church is acceptable. Dressy, but not dress up!

Where is the event and were do we park?

The event is held at the Royal Sonesta Hotel located at 2222 West Loop South between San Felipe and Westheimer. Signs will direct you from the lobby to the ballroom, which is located on the main floor.

The hotel offers valet parking as well as self-parking in an adjoining garage. Valet parking is $15 and self-parking is $8 for our event.

What time should we arrive?

The doors open at noon for photos and mingling. The style show begins promptly at 12:30 p.m., followed by the luncheon.

Are photos and videos available?

A photographer will offer mother-daughter portraits beginning at noon. Cash, checks or credit cards will be accepted. Group shots with friends are welcome. Candid shots will be taken during the luncheon and posted online for purchase after the event.

DVDs of the style show will be available for $35. To place an order, visit DVD sales table at the event.

Is childcare available?

We love having Lower School girls join us for this special day to cheer on their classmates and the seniors, but we recognize that it is a long day for the little ones. After the style show is completed, we will have a short intermission. At that time, any Lower School students who do not want to sit through the senior tribute presentations may go upstairs with Lower School faculty members for coloring and crafts. Once the senior tributes are completed, the girls will be brought back down to the ballroom for lunch.
