Track and Field Athletes Going to State

Several Track and Field athletes took top honors at the TAPPS 6A Regional Meet earning bids to the State Meet.

Four Track and Field athletes from Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart have earned a place in the TAPPS State competition following outstanding performances at the TAPPS 6A Regional Track and Field Meet.

Senior Alyssia Ewing won first place in discus with a throw of 118 feet. Her throw set a new school record and was a personal best. Kailey Strozier, a senior, is the 6A regional champion in shot put following her first place finish with a throw of 36 feet, 8 inches. The youngest Duchesne athlete to make State is sophomore Bridget Klenke who won first place in pole vault with a jump of 9 feet, 6 inches. Finally, senior Evan Rolfe, will compete at State in high jump following her third place finish at Regionals with a 5-foot jump.

"I'm so proud of the girls," said Track and Field Head Coach Goldy Jackson. "The hard work is paying off. I look for us to make a statement next week at the state meet."

The TAPPS State Track and Field Meet will be May 4 - 5 in Waco, Texas.
