Duchesne Academy Sports Medicine is committed to protecting the safety and health of all student athletes by promoting their physical and mental wellbeing and providing excellent sports medicine services.


Houston Methodist Orthopedics & Sports Medicine is proud to be the official health care provider of Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart.

This partnership enables Houston Methodist to provide the onsite Sports Medicine Team including a full-time Athletic Trainer and Team Physician for the student athletes of DASH. This team strives to deliver the Houston Methodist Experience to the DASH campus to ensure student athletes receive excellent sports medicine care and to promote safety while performing at the highest level.

About our Team Physician

Dr. Gillian Wooldridge is a board-certified and fellowship trained primary care sports medicine physician. She specializes in treating those with orthopedic conditions.

Dr. Wooldridge earned her medical degree from the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Worth, Texas. She completed her Family Medicine Residency at Houston Methodist Hospital – The Med Center. She also completed her Sports Medicine Fellowship at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital.

As Team Physician, Dr. Wooldridge brings her expertise as a Primary Care Sports Medicine Specialist & Houston Methodist Concussion Specialist to the student athletes of Duchesne Academy.


About our Athletic Trainer

Rachel Burgess is a Houston area native and graduate of the University of Houston with degrees including a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Master of Athletic Training.

As a licensed and certified athletic trainer, her professional experience includes four years in collegiate sports medicine at Houston Christian University and University of Houston and her high school sports medicine experience includes various public and private high school settings. In 2022, Rachel joined Houston Methodist West Hospital as an Outreach Athletic Trainer where she now provides high-quality sports medicine services to the Middle and Upper Schools of Duchesne Academy.

In her free time, Rachel is an avid runner and enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and two dogs.

Policies & Procedures

Every middle & upper school student athlete must have a valid, current physical on file each year to compete. To complete this requirement, follow the directions below
  • Log in to MAGNUS   
  • Click “Student Health Tracker”
  • Scroll down to requirement labeled “Athletics: Yearly Physical Form”
  • Click on the paper icon to download or print the note

Note:

Athletic physicals expire one year from the date of exam. A May or June appointment will keep your daughter eligible for athletics for the entire school year.
