Varsity Basketball Plays in Regional Tournament

CeeCee Van Pelt ’20 finished out the season with more than 1,000 points scored during her Charger career.

The Varsity Basketball team finished their season with a 3rd place finish in the district tournament and advanced to play in the first round of the regional tournament before being knocked out following a close game. 

During the second round of the district tournament, the Chargers faced off against rival St. Agnes. In that game, Meta Sapien ’20 went 4-4 behind the 3-point line to finish with 20 points, and Annette Clark ’20 pulled down 18 rebounds and had 9 points and 3 blocks. CeeCee Van Pelt ’20 also had a great game with 7 points and 10 rebounds. The Chargers played a tough game but ultimately lost 60-45.  

In the final round of the district tournament on Saturday, February 16, the Chargers defeated Concordia with a 45-43 win to take 3rd place in the district and earn a birth in the regional tournament. CeeCee had a lights-out game with 11 rebounds and 19 points to bring her to more than 1,000 total points scored during her Charger career! 

On Tuesday, February 19, the team traveled to San Antonio where they played Antonian in the first round of regionals. CeeCee continued to run up her points tally, scoring 17 points to bring her to 1,032 total points scored as a Charger. Annette had a strong game with 11 points and 11 rebounds, and Aleyna Ozcelik ’21 had 14 points and 4 assists. The team was defeated 74-62, but with a strong squad of players on the roster who will return, next year is already looking bright for the Chargers!
