Model UN Visits New York City

Duchesne participated in the National High School Model UN Conference.

Duchesne's Model UN team attended the 2019 National High School Model UN Conference in New York City from March 1-4. More than 2,500 students from around the world participated in the 45th annual conference. Duchesne represented the Dominican Republic and worked on various committees. Each committee was given two topics specific to their country to research prior to the conference. After opening ceremonies at the General Assembly hall of the United Nations, each committee met where delegates decided which topic to address, and then debated, shared perspectives, wrote working papers, and created resolutions.

While in New York, the girls also visited Sr. Sheila Smith, RSCJ at the Sacred Heart NGO office. She gave a  presentation about how the Sacred Heart order works through the NGO office to carry out the mission of the Society throughout the world. The group also spent time in the corporate office of Bulgari and met an executive who spoke with the girls about business and her journey being a female executive in a large corporation.
