Middle School Soccer Team Takes Home HJPC Championship Title

Following an undefeated season, the 7th/8th grade soccer team won the HJPC Championship.

The 7th/8th-grade soccer team went into the HJPC Championship match as the favorites to win after dominating the season with 13 shutout victories. The final tournament game on January 31 was a nail-biter with the team going into double overtime. But with a final score of 2-1, the Chargers won the game and took home the HJPC Championship title.

In the first half of the game, Duchesne's opponent, Annunciation Orthodox School, scored a goal against the Chargers, marking the first time all year that Duchesne allowed a goal. Before the halftime break, 8th grader Delaney Van Pelt scored a goal for Duchesne to tie the game 1-1. The game remained tied throughout the second half and went into double overtime. With one minute left in the second overtime period, 7th grader Karoline Joe scored the winning goal off a corner kick from 8th grader Echo Malinowski-Cunningham.

The team ended their season with an undefeated 14-0 record and a total of 67 goals scored! A commemorative t-shirt is available for purchase. T-shirt orders must be placed by February 19.
