Duchesne’s coffee shop, Cha Cha’s Corner, will remain open for Upper School students and faculty/staff, but will no longer accept cash. All orders must be submitted and prepaid via the Flik Nutrislice mobile app. The serving window will have a Plexiglas sneeze shield. All drinks will be served in disposable cups, and no refillable cups will be allowed behind the shield.
Dining Hall Protocols
The Schuhmacher Godfrey Dining Hall will be open for lunch with modified schedules to reduce the total number of students in the dining hall. Students will sit in a staggered pattern at tables, and stickers on the floor will indicate the distance that students should maintain while waiting in line to be served.
All students will pre-order their meal selection via the Flik Nutrislice mobile app or with teacher assistance. The serving line will provide meals in closed containers. Students with food allergies will continue to be accommodated. Self-serve items such as the soup, salad, and deli bars will be closed until further notice. The regular beverage machines will be closed, and non-contact dispensers will be used for water, juice, and ice. Disposable flatware and sealable plates will be used for all food leaving the dining hall.
Rigorous sanitization measures will be in place for all food service and janitorial staff while working around open foods, including wearing a face covering and gloves, hand hygiene, respiratory/cough etiquette, and increased sanitation of the dining facilities.
In order to maintain optimal health and safety conditions with regard to food service, some grades will eat lunch in the dining hall, and others will eat lunch in their classrooms.
Lower School: All Lower School students will eat lunch in their classrooms and/or learning spaces. Meals will be delivered with disposable plates, flatware, and beverage containers.
Middle School: Each grade level will rotate eating lunch in the dining hall for one week at a time. When not eating in the dining hall, students will eat in their advisory classrooms. Students will also have a chance to go outside for recess during their lunch break.
Upper School: Students will order their lunch through the Flik Nutrislice mobile app one week prior to lunch being served. After B bin, students will go immediately to their advisory room for lunch, where their pre-ordered meal will be delivered.
Faculty and Staff: All faculty and staff will pick up lunch in the dining hall between 11:00 a.m. - 12:50 p.m. and may eat in the dining hall between 11:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. or anywhere on campus with appropriate physical distancing.
Lower School: Teachers will pass out snacks to students in the classrooms and will wear gloves. Pre-K3 – Kindergarten will be served snack in the morning, and 1st-4th grades will be served snack in the afternoon.
Middle School: Students will eat snack in their advisory classrooms.
Upper School: Snack will be served in the dining hall and staggered by grade level. Freshmen and seniors will have snack from 10:20 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Sophomores and juniors will have snack from 10:50 a.m. – 11 a.m.
No outside food for sharing may be brought on to campus at this time.
