Global Outreach

Global Outreach awakens students and the Duchesne community to the responsibility to link in a reciprocal manner with ministries among the poor, marginalized, and suffering from injustice worldwide. From the youngest student to the faculty, staff, and parents, the community strives to learn about and respond to the needs of the world.

Through actives and events, students raise funds to support our sister schools in Uganda, Sacred Heart Primary School Kyamusansala and Kangole Girl's Senior Secondary School. These funds have been used to build classrooms and dorms, provide a water tank for the school, and scholarships for the students. Three teachers from Duchesne have made summer trips to these schools to bring supplies, help the Ugandan teachers and bring our message of love to our sisters.

The causes and activities to support them are extensive and fluid. Causes span the globe and students within their clubs and divisions embrace each one with veracity and compassion. Raising money for an orphanage in China, selling artwork to buy a cow for Heifer's International, and providing funds to purchase a wheelchair for a child in El Salvador are just a few of them.

As a member of the Network of Sacred Heart Schools, Duchesne participated in a Global Education project. "Global Education awakens students and the larger community to the responsibility of participating actively in the human family worldwide." This project titled, Sacred Heart Global Dance, was inspired by the famous Matt Harding video where he traveled around the world to various cities and landmarks to dance. The goal of the Network project was "to connect Sacred Heart students from forty-four countries, to build community through DANCING, and to provide a place for students to feel the Spirit and be moved by the same rhythm that runs through all of us."
