Five out of six awards at the Barbara Jordan Speech and Essay Contest on May 22, went to Duchesne students. In the 8th grade speech contest, Rebekah Smith won 1st place, Srini Kumar took 2nd place, and Madeleine Ginty completed the sweep with 3rd place. In the 7th grade essay contest, Daniela Echeverri won 2nd place and Katie Butler was awarded 3rd place.
Duchesne sent 11 students to the final rounds of the Barbara Jordan competitions. Eighth grader Grayson Myers competed in the speech competition final. And in the essay contest, 7th graders Ashley Dike, Winnie Johnson, Claudia Krogmeier, Christen Leggett, and Meg Longwell read their essays in final round.
