On Tuesday, February 9, 2010, The National Honor Society welcomed 27 Duchesne high school students as members. As Duchesne's largest group of inductees ever at one time, the girls are great examples of strong leadership and high academic standards.
The National Honor Society is one of the nation's premier organizations established to recognize outstanding student leaders. Society membership not only recognizes academic success but also challenges students to develop further through community service and extracurricular activities.
The induction ceremony took place in the Duchesne theatre and was followed by a reception for students, parent and faculty. The ceremony began with a welcome and a prayer by the Duchesne NHS president and chaplain. Following the introduction, current Duchesne NHS members lit four candles which symbolized scholarship, leadership, service and character, the four pillars of NHS.
Head of Upper School, Rae Flory, announced the inductees as they received their certificate and a yellow rose from Sr. Jan Dunn. Sr. Jan Dunn then administered the membership oath to the inductees who promised to have high academic standards and do all things to promote the welfare of Duchesne.
