Pennies for Peace

Starting in September, the Lower School at Duchesne Academy participated in the "Pennies for Peace" program and raised over $300 for schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan. The Lower School collected pennies throughout the fall semester and parents volunteered their time to roll the pennies.

"Pennies for Peace" is an international service-learning program inspired by the #1 New York Times Bestseller Three Cups of Tea: One Man's Mission to Promote Peace, One School At A Time, by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin. All proceeds of the program go to building new schools and buying school supplies.

One penny is equal to one pencil and $20 will provide a student with school supplies for one year. The Duchesne Lower School is proud to aid in the education of students in Pakistan and Afghanistan, one penny at a time.
