An eighth period study/tutorial four times a week is built into the upper school schedule.,  Eighth period on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and on most Fridays, is designated a study/tutorial time.  In keeping with Goal Five, students are encouraged to use this time productively and to make appointments to meet with their teachers one-on-one as needed.

Freshmen are automatically assigned to study hall, as are students on academic probation.  Students with two quarter grades below 78 are assigned to study hall for the following quarter.  When students do not have assigned classes or study hall they may talk or study together outdoors, in the Student Lounge, in the Dining Room or in other designated areas.  Students who wish to study quietly may go to the Library, to a monitored study hall, or any available classroom.

     Opportunities for teachers and students to confer one on one
     Tutorial time for individuals or groups on a reliable basis
     A common study hall for freshmen
     Technical support time
     Flexibility for organizing meetings and community events without loss of teaching time
     Relief from obligations during lunch time
     Relief from disruption related to early dismissal for athletics
     Occasional early dismissals without loss of class time
     Mentoring in the use of wise freedom

Guidelines for students...
     Students not assigned to a formal study hall may study quietly in the Library, the Computer Lab, or any
        open upper school classroom
     Students may study in groups in the Dining Room or outside
     Students may study in the open areas in the Fine Arts Building, so long as they do not disturb classes
     Students may not study or linger in the hallways or the Gym area
