Arrival and Dismissal

Lower School students, "Early Risers", may arrive on campus as early as 7:00 a.m. and go to the gym.  There is  a charge for "Early Risers" which ends at 7:30 a.m. Students arriving from 7:30 a.m. to 7:50 a.m go to the gym where they are supervised by teachers. Students are dismissed to their classrooms at 7:50 a.m. and the instructional day will begin at 8:00 a.m. Parents are asked not to walk their children to the classroom in the morning.

Pre-K students will dismiss at 1:00 p.m. or 3:15 p.m.  Pre-K students staying until 3:15 p.m. will be charged for this additional time.

In the afternoon, all students are dismissed from the Dome Area at 3:15 p.m.  Parents are asked not to wait in the hallways to pick up their daughter(s).  Children whose parents are late picking them up will be sent to Extended Day at 3:45pm.

Early Dismissal

If out of necessity, a child must leave during the day, please send a note to the child's teacher in the morning.   The adult picking up the child must sign the child out in the Lower School office.  NO STUDENT WILL BE DISMISSED WITHOUT AN EARLY DISMISSAL SLIP, NOR BE ALLOWED TO GO HOME WITH ANOTHER STUDENT WITHOUT WRITTEN PERMISSION FROM THE PARENTS OR GUARDIANS.

An Extended Day Program is available to all students who need before and after school care. This program operates from 3:15 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.  There is a nominal fee for this service.

Attendance

Attendance is taken every morning at 8:00 a.m.  If a student is sick and will be absent from school, the parent/guardian MUST notify the school between 7:45 a.m. and 8:15 a.m.  At this time, please notify the school secretary of any homework that the absent child may need.  The homework will be ready for pick up at 2:30 p.m.  Students who are absent more than 10 days in any one trimester must produce a doctor's certificate for all days in excess of ten.  It is MOST IMPORTANT for the students to begin the school day ON TIME.  A record of attendance/tardiness is kept and recorded on report cards and permanent records.

Parents/guardians are expected to honor the school calendar when scheduling medical appointments and planning family vacation trips.  If a child is absent for any reason other than illness, the parent is expected to make sure the child learns and makes up the  class work after the child returns to school.  No schoolwork will be given ahead of time.  Homework or class work will not be faxed.
