2011 Book Fair a Huge Success!!
Duchesne students were the stars at our Hollywood themed Book Fair on Oct. 18 -19 at the Barnes & Noble Bookstore at Town and Country. The "Lights, Camera, Read-Be a Star" event was complete with a red carpet and glamour photos.
The Book Fair was sponsored by the Parents' Association and the Duchesne Libraries to help build strong libraries which encourage the girls to read and offer them ample materials for their academic endeavors.
Pre-K through Middle School students enjoyed a field trip to the Book Fair on Tuesday, October 18th. Students and friends could buy books and other items on sale. Twenty percent of the proceeds benefitted the library programs at Duchesne. Books purchased at a special gift table, went directly to our library collection. Later that afternoon, beginning at 4 pm, grandparents and special friends were invited to shop and see a special presentation by award winning author Candace Fleming.
On Wednesday, October 19th, in addition to book shopping, students enjoyed a dinner and special activities, during Family Fun Night from 4-8 pm. Dinner was catered by Raising Cane's who supplied their famous chicken fingers and sides. Activities included games such as Celebrity Charades and Scavenger Hunt, along with a craft table and a photo opportunity. Children got to dress up in boas and other glitzy attire and have candid shots taken in the photo booth.
Those who couldn't attend the Fair could shop online at www.bn.com/bookfair with 10% of the monies going to the Libraries.
