Applying to Duchesne

The following information is required before an admission decision will be made to attend Duchesne Academy. To apply for the Pre-K 3 program, student must be three years old by September 1 of entry year. Pre-K 3 students must be potty trained by the start of the school year. To apply for the Pre-K 4-year-old program, student must be four years old by September 1 of entry year.

Application

A completed online application for the 2017-2018 school year is required with the non-refundable application fee. Applications are due January 15, 2017. The Admissions Committee will review each applicant's file, and decision notifications are emailed March 10, 2017. Students offered enrollment must respond to Duchesne Academy by the common reply date of April 5, 2017.

Just as the Admissions Committee meets the student and learns about her academic and personal qualities, it is highly recommended that the prospective student and her family are comfortable and familiar with the mission and goals of Duchesne. The admissions process is designed to determine the level of compatibility between the two parties. The admissions process builds a candidate profile, which includes the following:

  • Teacher Recommendation Form (Pre-K 3 not required, but highly recommended)

Wait Pool

Candidates qualifying for a grade in which there are no spaces remaining may be offered a Wait Pool position. These positions are unranked. If a space becomes available, the profiles of all candidates in the Wait Pool are reviewed.

Testing

Once the application and fees are received, Pre-K 3 applicants will be contacted to schedule their group visit and testing. Admissions testing for applicants for Pre-K 4 through fourth grade must register for testing at www.catstexas.com.

Middle School (5–8) and Upper School (9–12) students must register for the ISEE test online at www.iseetest.org. Please click here for the Houston dates and locations for ISEE testing.

Confidential Teacher Evaluations

Teacher Evaluation forms must be submitted directly to the applicant's teacher(s). The school will submit the completed form(s) to Duchesne Academy either by email or mail (Attention: Admissions, 10202 Memorial Dr., Houston, Texas 77024).

Transcripts

Copies of transcripts, report cards, school records for the current year and previous two school years, and the results of all standardized testing are required for admission prior to acceptance. If the student is accepted, Duchesne must receive official school transcripts prior to her attendance.
